I know that California Pizza Kitchen isn’t a secret foodie spot or anything, but my lunch today did make for a good photo, and we ate there for a good cause, so I thought I’d share.
Today, The California Pizza Kitchen was donating 20% of their proceeds to the Tucson Youth Hockey League. Mike and I are huge hockey fans, so we thought we’d go out and show our support. While we were there, we got to meet most of the Arizona Wildcat Hockey team, and get some stuff signed. I thought that was a sweet touch. We love our Arizona Wildcat Hockey.
After the meet and greet, we headed over to the California Pizza Kitchen to get our pizza on. I hadn’t eaten all day, and more importantly, I hadn’t eaten pizza in over a month, so I was ready for some bread and cheese.
I ordered an original crust wild mushroom pizza with chicken. I love chicken on my pizza!
Mike ordered our usual go-to favorite, an original crust pizza with pepperoni, chicken, and bacon. I would normally order that, but California Pizza Kitchen has some pretty unique combos, so I had to venture out.
My pizza was pretty tasty. It wasn’t as good as some of the local goodies I’ve had, but for a light lunch, it did the trick. It filled me up without leaving me bloated and sluggish. The mushrooms were a hit. The chicken was also good. No fatty chunks, just white meat. The cheese was good, but I missed having some red sauce on my pie. It would have been good with some ricotta cheese and some red sauce pockets. Yum. Maybe next time, I’ll add some extras and make it my own.
Now for the main questions:
10 scale service rating: 8
10 scale food rating: 6.5
Is it worthy of a repeat visit? Sure
Would I order the same dish or change it up?
I would order something different, then add my own extras to make it the bomb! Maybe the White Pizza with chicken and a side of red sauce to drizzle over the top :-P
Don’t take my word for it. Go check it out:
